....... took lessons from the composer Fritz Pilsl before studying guitar with Jörg Wagner at the Heidelberg/Mannheim University of Music. He graduated with distinction in 1995.
In 1998 he once again received top marks, this time for his performance examination at the "Academy for Music" in Darmstadt with Prof. Olaf van Gonnissen.
In addition to attending many master classes, he rounded off his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Université de Québec à Montréal with Prof. Alvaro Pierri.
JAN MASUHR has won prizes in various competitions and accepted invitations for tours and international music festivals in North America, Sweden and Japan, among other places.
His musical activities in the classical field range from solo recitals through chamber music (for example with flute, voice, organ or narrator, or with small string ensembles) to performances as soloist with symphony orchestra. He also cooperates productively with composers (first performances).
His electric guitar can be heard on numerous widely varying projects (jazz, rock and pop bands, musicals, pop oratorios and all sorts of other things as well.)
His CD productions have been received very positively by the media. He works as composer and arranger on a wide range of projects (like the fairy tale festival in Hanau.)
JAN MASUHR also teaches guitar privately in Seligenstadt and is additionally involved as lecturer at courses and director of seminars held by the Federation of German Plucked String Musicians (BDZ).
He is co-founder of Youth Guitar Orchestra of Hesse (JZOH) and director of the ensemble “Con Salero”.
